Unmatched Real Estate Photography in Driftwood, TX
We've all heard the phrase "A picture is worth a thousand words," and in today's digitally-dominant world, that saying is more poignant than ever. In real estate, pictures have a huge impact on whether a home is sold or passed by. That's especially true in a time when prospective homebuyers are less likely to travel in-person to tour a home in their price range.
With more time on their hands to peruse real estate listings, buyers are inundated with all sorts of images, which is why your real estate photos must stand out from the crowd. Once buyers filter through property locations, pricing, nearby school districts, and square footage, they want to flip through photos. If your pictures aren't up to snuff, you can be sure the homebuyer will move to the next listing.
Fortunately, Twist Tours is here to provide you with high-resolution, creative photography for your real estate needs - whether you're listing a brand-new home or selling a property that has been on the market too long.
We believe Twist Tours stands apart because we do more than capturing a visual record of a home. Instead, your Twist Tours real estate photographer develops an emotional bridge between potential buyers and real estate listings by enhancing the home's true character. Aerial Video and Photography Services for Real Estate
Nothing showcases your property quite like professional aerial video and photography. With our drone photography services, you can turn lookers into buyers by giving them a unique vantage point of your commercial or residential property. If you're looking to set your real estate business apart from your competition, drone photography and video is the way to go.
Aerial photography adds an extra layer of "special" to your real estate photos, taking your listing from dull to downright beautiful. Sellers want to work with agents willing to entertain creative ways to sell homes. Buyers want to see every nook and cranny of the home they're interested in buying. With aerial real estate photography, you get the best of both worlds.
Benefits of aerial real estate photography and video include:
Property Location
If you're a real estate expert, we bet you're used to hearing the saying "location, location, location." One of the greatest benefits of aerial real estate photography is the chance to see where a home is located with respect to parks, restaurants, and other attractions. If you need to capture the entirety of a property's layout, take to the skies.
Property Accuracy
Taking pictures is one of the most important steps in selling a home. Generally, exterior real estate photos are taken from common locations like driveways, back yards, and on decks. Aerial real estate photography and videography can show a more accurate, robust depiction of a home for sale, giving buyers a more complete picture of the home they're looking to buy.
Tell a Better Story
Excellent storytelling is one of the most reliable keys to real estate sales. On the one hand, buyers want to know exactly where their money will be going when buying a home. On the other hand, sellers want to work with an agent who has more than the typical tools of the trade on hand. When coupled with interactive virtual tours, hiring a Twist real estate videographer in Driftwood, TX can help realtors tell a more captivating story.
Commercial Real Estate Photography Services
Ever considered professional real estate photography for your commercial business needs? Making a first strong impression is an incredible asset to your business. Doing so is equally as important for commercial purposes as it is for residential real estate reasons. With Twist Tours, your prospective clients can access online 3D virtual tours filled with stunning HDR real estate photography to give them a full picture of what you're selling. With our floor plan and room planner tours, you can even implement our real estate photos in your print marketing materials.
But that's just the start. A few additional benefits of commercial real estate photography include:
1.
Give Buyers What They Want:
The Wall Street Journal recently published a piece about the best ways to sell a commercial property. Their research found that buyers spent 60% of their time looking at photos on a property page. Knowing this, you must find creative ways to make your listings and marketing materials stand out. A lack of dazzling, positive imagery could mean you lose out on a sale or a tenant.
2.
More Clicks and Shares:
When prospective buyers or tenants are captivated by a real estate photo, they are very likely to click through to your website. Pictures with the right mix of professionalism and pizzaz are also share-worthy, meaning your commercial property for sale will reach a wider audience.
3.
Get That Great First Impression:
For buyers or tenants to take your commercial property seriously, your real estate images must make a positive impression by being HDR, modern, and beautiful.
Do the Twist
Guess what? At Twist Tours, we love our clients. Not just because of the fantastic relationships we've formed with builders, brokers, owners, designers, agents, and their staff - but because they get it. They know how important a strong first impression can be in the real estate industry. The only thing we love more than meeting new clients is helping them grow their business. If you're ready to get started on more success, we're here to help.

Just 23 miles from downtown Austin, Driftwood feels worlds away from the city’s buzz and Austin’s “Keep Austin Weird” identity. This unincorporated community trades quirkiness for a slower pace that screams “weekend escape.” Being a short jump from the big city makes Driftwood an easy choice for a day trip or weekend from Austin, but it is decidedly un-Austin, and that’s exactly the charm.
Settled in the 1850s, Driftwood sits in Hays County and is considered part of the Austin Metro Area, hugging its close neighbor, Dripping Springs, and parts of Southwest Austin that feel more Hill Country than urban. It’s an especially good fit for couples or friend groups thanks to its focus on wine, beer, and spirits, along with upscale yet country-cozy places to stay. Texas-grown wines, legendary barbecue, and plenty of open space to walk it all off make Driftwood an ideal 21+ escape.
Driftwood is also an easy weekend trip from Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio.
Where to Eat and Drink
Salt Lick BBQ is what puts Driftwood on the map, and people come from all around to get a little dirt on their tires just to try the tangy smoked ribs, other barbecue meats, and a lineup of classic sides. If you’ve really got an appetite, order family-style, which is all-you-can-eat. Keep room for the chocolate pecan pie. (You’re welcome).
Salt Lick is BYOB, so you’re free to bring your own booze or head next door.
Salt Lick Cellars is just a hop across the patio and is a perfect complement for anyone wanting a wine pairing with their barbecue or a tasting as a standalone experience, although good luck resisting the smells coming from the grill.
Salt Lick Cellars has house-labeled wines made in friendly collaborations with area winemakers, using grapes grown on Salt Lick’s estate vineyards in Driftwood. According to Garrett Strickler, Vineyard Manager and Wine Director, the bestsellers are the BBQ Red and the BBQ White, both fruit-forward blends that pair well with rich, fatty smoked meats. In addition to their house label, Salt Lick Cellars also carries a healthy selection of Texas wines and Texas beers. What makes this operation unique is that it’s a full wine-tasting and pairing experience that will meet everyone where they’re at, not just a bottle of whatever happens to be on hand at a barbecue joint to help wash down your ribs.
Offering a more refined yet still relaxed wine tasting experience, Duchman Family Winery‘s picturesque, Tuscan-inspired architecture and sprawling grounds bring together a balanced selection of Texas varietals with good food and entertainment. There’s an almost even mix of hearty reds and crisp whites. Most of the grapes are grown in the Texas High Plains Region near Lubbock, and the winemaking operation at Duchman is on full view in the winery’s hallway, where guests can get a behind-the-scenes look at production as it happens.
Winemaker Dave Reilly credits the quiet, unhurried quality of Driftwood that shows up in the wines as part of what makes Duchman special. “We have one of the most extensive aging programs in Texas: our reds spend four to five years in barrel, then another year in bottle before we release them. In an industry that often demands quick turnover, we’ve chosen patience. Driftwood is the right home for that philosophy.”
The on-site kitchen, led by Chef Antonio Ruiz, is open Thursday through Sunday and elevates the tasting-room experience. The menu includes thoughtfully crafted flatbreads, from classics like Margherita to more inventive options like “The Duch,” topped with onion marmalade, baked ricotta, and prosciutto.
Fall Creek Vineyards is one of those Hill Country names that longtime Texas wine enthusiasts recognize instantly. As one of the state’s oldest estate wineries, it helped put Texas wine on the map long before tasting rooms became weekend destinations. The Driftwood location offers a laid-back yet polished tasting experience with a strong lineup of Texas-grown wines and a balanced mix of reds and whites.
When it comes to dreamy vineyard views, it is hard to top Driftwood Estates Winery. Wine selections include bold reds, dry whites, and a fruity Muscat. The on-site restaurant is open Friday through Sunday and offers hearty items you don’t often see at wineries, such as a burger, crab cakes, and typical winery fare, like cheese plates. There’s also a small selection of craft beer, which is an unusual find at a winery.
Note: Although many Hill Country area wineries are kid-friendly, this one is not. 21+ only.
Sotol is often described as a cousin of tequila, though it isn’t an agave-based spirit like tequila or mezcal. Instead, it’s made from a desert shrub called Dasylirion wheeleri and has a flavor profile reminiscent of mezcal but less smoky, smoother, and generally less fiery than most tequilas.
Desert Door Distillery offers behind-the-scenes tours that show visitors the sotol-making process, along with tastings and cocktails. You’ll find sotol versions of libations typically seen with tequila, like margaritas and palomas, as well as a sotol Old Fashioned that’s worth sampling. Expect to see a rotating lineup of food trucks and live music on weekends.
Vista Brewing is a 21-acre farm that includes eight acres of wildflowers and a full restaurant with a wood-fired grill serving farm-to-table fare. Visitors will find 16 rotating taps. Vista’s barrel program is unique and tied to the local community, which meshes with their commitment to being involved in Driftwood and the surrounding communities of Buda, Dripping Springs, Kyle, and Wimberley. The barrels Vista uses for their beer are freshly emptied wine and spirits barrels sourced from other operations in Central Texas. You’ll find a wide variety of beer styles represented here, from American IPA to stouts and more.
According to co-founder Karen Killough, the most popular brews are Dark Skies Black Pilsner and their award-winning French-style Saison. Driftwood is one of 24 spots in Texas officially recognized as a Dark Sky Place. The light-bodied black lager was named in honor of the International Dark Sky Association, which works to combat light pollution by educating people on responsible lighting practices.
Although Jester King Brewery technically has an Austin address, it’s a short drive on country roads to reach this farm brewery that offers unique backdrops to enjoy your beer, like sitting next to a hops field or a goat pen. If the goats pique your interest more than the beer, you’re not alone. There are two bookable goat experiences, as well as a brewery tour with tastings. Nothing says you can’t do both.
You’ll find a variety of craft beers and ciders with whimsical names, like “Greetings from Krampus” and “Honey Thief.” They also have a small selection of batch cocktails and nonalcoholic drinks. Jester King is known for wood-fired pizza with imaginative toppings like butternut squash or house-brined pickles, as well as more traditional pies and build-your-own options.
Where to Explore
If you need some movement between meals, there are a couple of easy, Driftwood-adjacent options worth building into your day. Technically in Dripping Springs and Austin, these spots are so similar in pace and feel that you won’t notice any transition.
Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center offers an easy, scenic way to slow things down. Native plants, open trails, and seasonal blooms (especially beautiful in springtime) showcase the Texas Hill Country at its most photogenic.
Just a few miles from Salt Lick BBQ, Charro Ranch Park is ideal whether you want to work up an appetite or walk off a serious plate of ribs (or both). The 64-acre park has gentle trails and a quiet, “away from it all” feel.
Where to Stay
Although there are no lodging options in Driftwood proper, there are a handful of nearby spots that make an easy basecamp to explore this area of the Hill Country at a leisurely pace.
This 12-room inn offers a full slate of amenities, including a spa, restaurant, pickleball courts, and outdoor hangout areas perfect for viewing the pristine night sky. There are also standalone casitas with hot tubs available to rent if you’re looking for extra privacy.
This luxury 282-acre property offers curated activities such as archery, olive oil tastings, and stargazing parties. The remote feel, paired with the colorful, rustic-chic decor and the blissful on-site spa, makes a stay at Camp Lucy really feel like an escape.
Nearby Bee Cave is a well-stocked town with plenty of dining and shopping options. While it doesn’t have the “away from it all” vibes of Driftwood, it’s an easy 20-minute drive, and the Sonesta Bee Cave is a comfortable haven with cozy rooms and a rooftop bar.

For nearly three decades, Gary Elliott and his family have watched the Texas Hill Country wine industry grow from a small, largely experimental enterprise into one of the most dynamic agricultural and tourism industries in the state. At Driftwood Estate Winery, they have experienced that evolution, often leading the way. As they approach 30 years of winemaking, they’ve earned a reputation for wine that goes beyond the countless Texas competitions and awards, achieving nationwide recognition and respect.
What began as a relatively small operation—with roots literally and figurately planted by Gary and his wife Kathy—has grown into a winery, vineyard, and brewery that has become part of the fabric of the region. For that fabric to be sewn, early on Gary spent countless hours in Austin advocating for the legislation that would make it possible to be an operating winery, and winemakers and wine lovers alike have benefited from his labors.
Gary’s daughter, Laura Elliott, has been part of the business for more than a decade, working in the tasting room before taking on a bigger role behind the scenes. Today, she handles much of the winery’s design and branding, including its wine labels and photography, as well as social media and the retail shop. That shop has become a destination of its own, stocked with wine glasses and humorous wine-themed gifts alongside Texas-inspired gifts, jewelry, hats, blankets, and products from makers and brands she particularly enjoys.
But the heart of Driftwood Estate Winery remains the vineyard, which rolls out in the fields below the tasting room. The Tuscan-style views and serene ambiance have long-made Driftwood a beloved spot to enjoy a tasting or relax on a blanket with a bottle of wine when we finally feel the relief of autumn’s coolness.
While the summer heat is rough on all flora and fauna here, it’s the spring freezes, diseases, and scarcity of water that pose the most serious threats to grapevines.
Winegrowing in Central Texas, with unpredictable seasons, has never been for the faint of heart. Late freezes last year devastated the crop, and this year, Driftwood Estate harvested only about a ton and a half of grapes from a vineyard that can produce 60 to 80 tons in a good year. When asked if he gets stressed out by the volatility and instability, Gary dismisses the notion with a smirk: “This is farming.”
His smirk disappears when talking about water. The creek that once supplied water for irrigation has been dry for roughly two years. They’re now irrigating just a couple of rows at a time to keep the vines alive. It’s a sobering reality in a part of Texas where population growth has placed increasing pressure on groundwater resources. For an agricultural operation, the consequences can be immediate. A vineyard can survive a poor harvest. It cannot survive indefinitely without water.
But Driftwood Estate Winery has a history of meeting challenges head-on. Gary has spent much of his career working on obstacles facing Texas grape growers, including Pierce’s disease, a bacterial disease that blocks water-transporting vessels and can kill grapevines. His work with researchers, growers, and state officials helped advance the approval of tools to combat the disease in Texas.
Driftwood Estate, one of just two wineries in the region thirty years ago, is now part of a flourishing industry in the Hill Country, where visitors and locals can enjoy hundreds of wineries. And while the ongoing dryness is likely to remain a problem, the winery has plenty of wine in reserve. It hopes to always have access to high-quality grapes, largely due to its partnership with Newsom Vineyards in the High Plains. Strong harvests in previous years have produced vintages that are still being enjoyed today. Among the current standouts is a newly released Petit Verdot, a softer, fruit-forward red. The winery’s celebrated Alamo Red, a classic Bordeaux blend of all five of the Bordeaux varietals, and Longhorn Red, a Cabernet/Syrah blend, also remain favorites—with both earning top awards in major competitions.
Over the years, Driftwood Estate wines have repeatedly surprised judges accustomed to the more established wine regions of California. At one San Francisco Chronicle International Wine Competition—reminiscent of the Judgment of Paris (the Paris Wine Tasting of 1976)—several Texas wines performed exceptionally well, with Driftwood Estates leading the Texas contingent. And this year, four other Hill Country wines won their first-ever gold medals at the Decanter World Wine Awards, the largest international wine competition.
As another fall approaches, visitors will come to Driftwood Estate Winery to enjoy a glass of Texas wine and take in the Hill Country landscape. Behind that leisurely experience is an agricultural operation working hard to not just survive but to thrive—and a family hoping that the next chapter of Texas wine will have enough rain to make it possible.
