Colovore, a California-based artificial intelligence data center developer, has filed plans with the state for a $250 million data center. Its move comes roughly two years after initially announcing plans to enter the Austin market.

Construction of the nearly 200,000-square-foot center — roughly the size of the Austin Central Library — will begin in December next door to the Hutto Crossing site that may soon be home to a proposed Blue Origin manufacturing site.
Jeff Bezos' aerospace company is considering building a campus at the same business park, at 2401 Innovation Blvd.
Hutto and Williamson County have approved tax breaks to attract the Amazon founder’s space venture. Blue Origin is shopping for a site for what’s been described as an advanced manufacturing hub, with the Austin area and Florida under consideration. The company is reportedly waiting on possible incentive agreements from the state to make it official.
Blue Origin’s manufacturing operations would create about 2,000 jobs at the site about roughly 11 miles west of Samsung Electronics’ chip factory in nearby Taylor. That plant is set to be in full operation by the end of the year.

Colovore’s Hutto data center will have a cpaacity of 40 megawatts — enough to power 8,000 Texas homes during peak summer demand — and will use liquid-based cooling. The one-story data center will have about five data halls and is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2028, according to its filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Williamson County has attracted several major industrial developments recently. As Austin’s available land fills up, companies are looking to the nearby county for larger factory and data center operations.
Massive construction is taking place further east on Texas 79, where a development known as the Hutto Megasite is beginning to take shape. The 1,400-acre site near Samsung’s Taylor plant will soon be home to several large operational data centers as well as technology manufacturing projects.

A data center supplier is also planning to create from 200 to 300 new jobs with a recently opened manufacturing plant in the city.

The Hutto Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) is pleased to announce that a site plan has been received for Cottonwood Marketplace, a new retail development planned near US 79 and CR 132. The project, led by Fidelis, will bring a major shopping and dining destination to one of Hutto's most strategically located properties.
Cottonwood Marketplace is expected to create new opportunities for shopping, dining, and community gathering for Hutto residents, while generating jobs and strengthening the city's tax base. The site's location along one of Hutto's busiest corridors makes it a natural fit for the kind of commercial growth the city has been planning for.
“As Hutto continues to experience tremendous growth, the demand for retail, dining, and personal services has never been higher,” said Lynn Davis, Co-President and Chief Leasing & Development Officer at Fidelis. “We’re seeing strong interest from national and regional brands who recognize this market momentum. Our goal with this center is to fill that gap and create a go-to destination that grows alongside the city."
Alongside the development itself, the City of Hutto, HEDC, and Fidelis are coordinating on road improvements and traffic safety upgrades in the surrounding area. These improvements are being planned in tandem with the development to make sure the infrastructure supporting Cottonwood Marketplace keeps pace with the growth it brings.
