In the wake of the catastrophic flooding that has impacted so many lives across Texas’ Hill Country, it is impossible to watch the news without feeling the heartbreak of this disaster. Entire communities have been devastated, and families are mourning the loss of their children and loved ones.

In response, Texan George Strait alongside businessman and Vaqueros del Mar partner of 15-years, Tom Cusick, are organizing a special benefit dinner and concert in Boerne, Texas, Strait To The Heart, at Estancia at Thunder Valley indoor arena.

“The destruction and loss in our community from the recent flood is hard to wrap your head around,” shares Strait. “Our hearts and prayers are with you all. The goal with this event is to raise meaningful, immediate support that can be put directly into the hands of flood victims without delay, while also honoring the first responders who work tirelessly to save lives.

Breakout country artist Sacha unveils her highly anticipated new single “Shooting Star,” a stellar collaboration with emerging trio Restless Road. As announced earlier this week, Sacha and Restless Road will perform “Shooting Star” live for the first time at the 2025 Canadian Country Music Association Awards in Kelowna, BC, on Saturday, September 13th.

“Shooting Star” leads the 14-track deluxe edition of Woman In The Mirror. The expanded project builds on the success of Sacha’s original 11-track album, released in May, that delivered a pair of international hits, with the empowering “Hey Mom I Made It” reaching the Top 10 at country radio in her native Canada, and Top 20 in the U.K., and the shattering “Til I Don’t” reached Top 20 in Canada, while cracking the U.K.’s Top 15.

Signarama and the Mattingly family have donated every single sign so that 100% of your donation goes directly to the relief fund through The Community Foundation.

These “Hill Country Strong” signs of support are popping up all over the Texas Hill Country. In fact, they are everywhere!

It's the meaning of the message that one local franchise is trying to spread as quickly and as powerfully as they can.

“I grew up in Kerrville, said Matt Mattingly, owner of Signarama in Boerne. “I went to Ingram High School, Class of 2005. I worked on the river out there and in Hunt every summer at River and Resort, right up the road from Camp Mystic. And we wanted to do something and help raise money.”

So his company printed a couple of hundred signs and started passing them out in Boerne. They were gone in seconds. Then hundreds turned into thousands.

They reached out to their partners at Signarama across the country, who are now printing the signs up as well.

“They're helping kind of helping to cover this because we can only print so many at a time,” said Mattingly. “It's Hill Country Strong, but it obviously extends past the Hill Country in Texas. Texans come together when they need to.”

Even in Boerne, where they weren't hit with the flood, but the impact of the disaster has brought the community together.

And now folks in New Braunfels are also asking for the signs.

The Mattingly’s are not collecting any money. They just wanted to do their part to raise awareness and get people to donate.

The King of Country said the intimate concert and dinner will be held on July 27 to benefit those impacted by the catastrophic July 4 floods in Kerr County.

BOERNE, Texas — George Strait is planning a fundraising event at the end of July to raise money for Kerr County flood victims.

The King of Country announced details on X on Friday, July 11, one week after the catastrophic flooding in the Texas Hill Country left at least 120 dead and dozens missing on the 4th of July.

The "intimate donor dinner and concert" will be held in Boerne on July 27.

Strait's post said it will directly help those impacted by the Texas floods and recognize first responders who saved the lives of countless members of his community.

“The destruction and loss in our community from the recent floods is hard to wrap your head around. Our hearts and prayers are with you all," Strait posted. "The goal with this event is to raise meaningful, immediate support that can be put directly into the hands of flood victims without delay, while also honoring the first responders that work tirelessly to save lives."

He said William Beckmann, Ray Benson with Asleep at the Wheel, Wade Bowen, Dean Dillon, Riley Green, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Kyle Park and Hudson Westbrook will join his Ace in the Hole Band on stage.

A chef trained under culinary icon Wolfgang Puck is bringing two new restaurants to a booming Texas Hill Country city, just 30 minutes away from San Antonio.

Chef Jacob Williamson, described by project developers as a "Wolfgang Puck protégé," will oversee a new upscale steakhouse in addition to a casual American-style restaurant and cocktail bar concept located at 12 Herff Road, Boerne, Texas, 78006.

The restaurants — 12 Herff Steakhouse and Meet Me Outside — will serve "locally-sourced food" with an element of "preserved charm," according to developer The Woodmont Company. Boerne residents can also expect to see future retail plans at the site, per designs found on Woodmont's website.

In total, the project is poised to bring 11,600 square feet of retail space to the area, which is known by locals for its traffic woes. Current tenants include the new restaurants and an educational child care facility called Kiddie Academy.

The development broke ground in early June, according to a recent Facebook post.

Williamson is the culinary director of Hooper Hospitality Concepts, which is also helping to develop the restaurants, per state filings with the TDLR.

While the state filing says the restaurant is scheduled to open in September of 2025, President of Brokerage Services for The Woodmont Group, Grant Gary, told Community Impact, which first reported the TDLR filings, that fans can expect a summer 2025 opening date.

Neither Gary nor Hooper Hospitality could be reached for comment by the time of this article's publishing.

Williamson is a Dallas native, where he's worked on several successful, upscale culinary projects, according to a profile on the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. The reports also said Williamson graduated from the French Culinary Institute in New York City and has also spent more than six years with the Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group, where he began his career there as a line cook before moving up to the rank of sous chef within just one year.

After years of waiting, un-kept groundbreaking dates and a couple of ironic billboard signs, 2025 has been a year marked by some progress for the long-promised Buc-ee's location in Boerne.

Officials in Boerne, Texas, located just 30 minutes north of San Antonio, say an additional piece of land is in the works for America's favorite gas station — this time, to convert a 3.976-acre tract of land along the scenic Interstate 10 area into a parking lot.

On Friday, City of Boerne spokesperson Chris Shadrock confirmed to MySA that Buc-ee's recently purchased the land from the Texas Department of Transportation and is requesting to rezone the land to install an accessory parking lot adjacent to its future site on I-10 and U.S. 87 — but not before the public has a chance to weigh in.

A public hearing is scheduled for July 7 at Boerne City Hall, according to a public notice sign that was placed on the nearly 4-acre tract of land where the proposed parking lot will go if the city approves rezoning.

The rezoning process will include the public hearing as a chance to give residents an opportunity to voice their opinions.

The Buc-ee's travel center has long been a source of contention in Boerne because of its potential impact on traffic congestion, and some say the chain jeopardizes the town's charm and identity that locals pride themselves as stewards over.
